Huge room with comfy bed, but no on-site onsen is a letdown.

Location so close to so many attractions, a very large shrine and park and being in the center of historical Gion while within short walking distance to a convenience store. Incredible customer service:)))

Great location to many main sightseeing attractions, good staff, everything was spotless. The property was in the heart of the city. A cool bonus was nearby Cafe Restaurant Yayoi, that offered tea and coffee.

During my 7-night stay, I had the very nice opportunity to experience the charm of Gion. The hosts arranged a good Maiko performance one evening, and I got to interact with her, which was such a nice highlight! I loved how thoughtful the owners were, always leaving fresh snacks and fruits in my room, and the location made it easy to explore several local attractions like the Yasaka Shrine, just a short walk away.

good location, few minutes walk away to major temples and shopping districts.
we stayed in this hotel for three nights and felt it was over priced for the basic facilities. we expected a more authentic Japanese style to what we got and there is a curfew to 10pm and it felt like living with my parents as a teenager!

All the stuff was very friendly, fixed my issues. My room was brand-new with couches and fruits, for instance. An electric kettle and a fridge where an advantage.
My room was almost empty.

Family run Ryokan style very roomy. The family was helpful in making our stay comfortable inspite of limited spoken English
The 2230 curfew can be inconvenient and lack of an Onsen bath in this style of hotel.

perfect base for exploring gion and nearby parks
I am so glad I chose to stay here, as it's just a few steps from the fine Maruyama Park and an easy walk to Gion's lively streets, made my weekend exploration easy.

on-site doggies, complimentary snacks, maiko performance
The rooms could use a more cohesive decor theme!!! A lack of an on-site onsen is disappointing for a ryokan experience!!! The breakfast options felt limited and uninspired for long-term stays!!!

Traditional Japanese. Very nice traditional rooms, very clean. The staff is wonderful - very helpful, go out of their way to make you feel welcome, spontaneously deliver snacks to your room (e.g., big fresh strawberries).

I liked everything. The service was EXCELLENT. The three dogs in the lobby were adorable. The man that spoke English was incredibly helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

It is a very good option for a Ryokan. Very well located, beautiful surroundings. Great ambience. Good that it has an en suite bath, shower and bathroom. Spacious room good for a family of 5 like us.
The staff are very friendly but better if they can speak a little better English so they can help and give instructions on where to go, etc.

Just a nice choice for a weekend respite in Kyoto with excellent value for money. The family was super cute, even showing off their dog in a crab hat! Check in early to enjoy the full experience.
